The Lord is Nigh

April 20, 2013

Psalm 34:17-18The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is near the brokenhearted; He delivers those who are discouraged.

The Lord is nigh
He hears and answers the righteous cry.

Prepare your heart
Call on Him in sincerity and truth
Expect an answer.

Be quieted and renewed in His unfailing love
He is faithful to deliver and mighty to save!

{From the word study below} The word Hosanna points to this verse:

Psalm 32:7 NASB … You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.

Psalm 32:7 MSG … GOD’s my island hideaway, keeps danger far from the shore, throws garlands of hosannas around my neck.

The Lord is near
Don’t shed a tear
He is your hiding place
He is faithful to deliver and mighty to save!

Rejoice greatly O daughter of Zion! -Zec 9:9

Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. -Ps24:7

Sing hosanna in the highest to the King!
The King of glory He comes!

Word Study

From NetBible Ps 34:17

  • delivers[05337] = to snatch away, to be plucked out, rescue, save

From NetBible Ps 34:18

  • nigh[07138] = near(in place, kindred or
    time), approachable, allied, at hand
  • delivers[03467] = to save, to be liberated, to give victory to
    *from a primitive root, Greek [5614] = hosanna

From NetBible Jn 12:13

  • hosanna[5614] =
    From [03467] = to be liberated, saved, delivered, victorious
    and [04994] = we pray now please
  • The expression ῾Ωσαννά (Jwsanna, literally in Hebrew, “O Lord, save”) in the quotation from Ps 118:25-26 was probably by this time a familiar liturgical expression of praise, on the order of “Hail to the king,” although both the underlying Aramaic and Hebrew expressions meant “O Lord, save us.” As in Mark 11:9 the introductory ὡσαννά is followed by the words of Ps 118:25, εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου (euloghmeno” Jo ercomeno” en onomati kuriou), although in the Fourth Gospel the author adds for good measure καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς τοῦ ᾿Ισραήλ (kai Jo basileu” tou Israhl). In words familiar to every Jew, the author is indicating that at this point every messianic expectation is now at the point of realization. It is clear from the words of the psalm shouted by the crowd that Jesus is being proclaimed as messianic king. See E. Lohse, TDNT9:682-84.* Hosannais an Aramaic expression that literally means, “help, I pray,” or “save, I pray.” By Jesus’ time it had become a strictly liturgical formula of praise, however, and was used as an exclamation of praise to God.* A quotation from Ps 118:25-26.

From NetBible Ps 145:18

  • Psalm 145:18 AMP … The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him sincerely and in truth.
  • near[07138] = nigh(in place, kindred or
    time), approachable, allied, at hand
  • sincerity and truth[0571] = firmness, faithfulness, sureness, reliability, honesty
    *from [0539] = to be certain He will answer

From NetBible Zep 3:17

  • Zephaniah 3:17The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.
  • save[03467] = to save, to be liberated, to give victory to
    *from a primitive root, Greek [5614] = hosanna
  • He will quiet you[02790] = make silent, give rest
    * “he causes [you] to be silent by his love,” that is, “he soothes [you] by his love.” The present translation follows the LXX and assumes an original reading יְחַדֵּשׁ (yÿkhaddesh, “he renews”) with ellipsis of the object (“you”).
  • love[0160] = God’s love for His people, faithfulness

From NetBible Zec 9:9

  • Zechariah 9:9Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
  • Rejoice[01523] = joyful, glad, to spin round (under the influence of any violent emotion)
  • shout[07321] = loud shout for joy in triumph
  • righteous[06662] = just, lawful
  • salvation[03467] = to save, to be liberated, to give victory to
    *from a primitive root, Greek [5614] = hosanna
  • The NT understands this verse to be a prophecy of the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, and properly so (cf. Matt 21:5;John 12:15), but reference to the universal rule of the king in v. 10reveals that this is a “split prophecy,” that is, it has a two-stage fulfillment. Verse 9 was fulfilled in Jesus’ earthly ministry but v. 10awaits a millennial consummation (cf. Rev 19:11-16).
  • v10 … I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim And the horse from Jerusalem; And the bow of war will be cut off. And He will speak peace to the nations; And His dominion will be from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth.

The Joy of the Lord

April 6, 2011

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, … How does the fruit of the Spirit – joy, manifest?

From Netbible Gal 5:22 joy[5479] means to rejoice exceedingly, to take great, exceeding, full delight in

Look how the Lord himself expresses joy. Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is with you{in your midst}, He is mighty{a victorious warrior} to save; He will exult[07797] over you with great joy[08057], He will quiet you{renew you} with His love, He will rejoice[01523] over you with singing[07440].

From Netbible Zeph 3:17  exult[07797] means to display joy joy[08057] means to celebrate, take great pleasure in rejoice[01523] means to spin, circle, whirl round (under the influence of any violent emotion) – expressing joy singing[07440] means to proclaim praise, shout joy – triumph/overcome

The Lord shows His joy here by taking great pleasure in and celebrating with singing, shouts of joy AND whirling, spinning around. Psalm 16:11  You will show me the path of life; In Your presence[06440] is fullness[07648] of joy[08057]; At Your right hand are pleasures[05273] forevermore.

From NetBible Zeph 3:17Ps 16:11  presence[06440] means before the face of joy[08057] in Ps 16:11 is the same as Zeph 3:17 means to celebrate, take great pleasure in fullness[07648] means to be filled with abundance, satisfied pleasures[05273] delight, sweetness, sweet music /singing

Doesn’t this sound like King David as he danced before the Lord? 2 Samuel 6:12-16Now King David was told, “The LORD has blessed the household of Obed-Edom and everything he has, because of the ark of God.” So David went to bring up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with rejoicing[08057]. 13 When those who were carrying the ark of the LORD had taken six steps, he sacrificed a bull and a fattened calf. 14 Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing[03769] before[06440] the LORD with all his might[05797] , 15 while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the LORD with shouts and the sound of trumpets. 16 As the ark of the LORD was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David leaping [06339] and dancing [03769] before [06440] the LORD, she despised him in her heart.

From NetBible Zeph 3:17 & 2 Sam 6:12-16  rejoicing in 2 Sam 6:12 is the same as Zeph 3:17 – joy[08057] means to celebrate, take great pleasure in From the root[08056] means to show glee, joy with the whole disposition, whole heart From the root[08055] means to brighten up – the whole disposition, whole heart dancing[03769] in 2 Sam 6:14 is similar to rejoice[01523] in Zeph 3:17 they mean to spin, circle, whirl might[05797] in 2 Sam 6:14 means strength, power, boldness in praise leaping[06339] in 2 Sam 6:16 means strong bounding, springing From root [06338] meaning refined pure gold before [06440] in 2 Sam 6:14 means before the face of, in the presence of

A Mighty Roar

August 25, 2010

Daniel 6:27 He rescues and He saves; He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.

I was feeling a little like I was in the lion’s den,
surrounded by hungry roaring lions that seemed ready to devour and swallow me up. -Jere 51:38

The Lord encouraged me with this thought –
No matter how big those hungry lions seem or how loud they roar –
He the LORD, the Lion of Judah is bigger!
He has triumphed!

Take heart, be of good courage -Ps 27:13-14
Trust in the LORD your God
Be drawn under His wing
Trust Him to quiet, renew and refresh your soul
In the midst of the lions den
He is mighty to save
His roar is bigger!

“Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.” -Rev 19:6
The Lion of Judah in victory reigns! -Rev 5:5

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is with you{in your midst}, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet{renew, refresh, bring into rest) you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.

Psalm 57:1-5, 7 Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!
For my soul trusts in You;
And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge,
Until these calamities have passed by.
I will cry out to God Most High,
To God who performs all things for me.
He shall send from heaven and save me;
He reproaches the one who would swallow me up. Selah
God shall send forth His mercy and His truth.
My soul is among lions;
I lie among the sons of men
Who are set on fire,
Whose teeth are spears and arrows,
And their tongue a sharp sword.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
Let Your glory be above all{over} the earth.

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises!

A Mighty Thunderous Roar

A Mighty Thunderous Roar {Article}

From Article:
Joel 3:16
The LORD will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the earth and the sky will tremble. But the LORD will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.

1 Samuel 2:10
Those who contend with the LORD will be shattered; against them He will thunder in the heavens, the LORD will judge the ends of the earth; and He will give strength to His king, and will exalt the horn of His anointed.

All will tremble at the roar of the Lion of Judah (Amos 3:8). To those who contend with the Lord, His roar will show His wrath (Prov 19:12, 20:2). They will tremble in terror. But to those who belong to the Lord it will be protection. They will tremble in awe and respect gathered like protected children around Him.

A Longing Heart Cry; An Answer

August 11, 2009

These songs were in my heart today …
May this encourage you also! :D

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth — For your love is better than wine. Because of the fragrance of your good ointments, Your name is ointment poured forth; Therefore the virgins love you.

Draw me after you and let us run together! The king has brought me into his chambers.”

“We will rejoice in you and be glad; We will extol your love more than wine. The upright love you.”–Song 1:2-4

***
Hear the heart cry of the Bride …
***

Keep me
Hide me
Surround me O LORD

I long to be
Held in Your gaze
As a precious jewel
The apple of Your eye
Beneath Your wings
In Your everlasting arms
You are mine
I am yours

Keep me
Hide me
Surround me O LORD.

***
You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. -Psalm 32:7

***

There shall once more be heard the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voices of those who sing, as they bring thank offerings to the house of the LORD: “Give thanks to the LORD of hosts, for the LORD is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!” -Jere 33:10-11

The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. -Zeph 3:17

The Bridegroom’s answer to the Bride’s longing heart cry …
***

In My eyes, in My eyes,
You are so precious in My sight

In My eyes, in My eyes,
So much love for My Bride.

In My eyes, in My eyes,
You are so precious in My sight

Held in My gaze, a beautiful jewel
The apple of My eye

Under My wing, you’ll abide
So precious in My sight, you are held
You are held
In My eyes

Forever more
You are held
In My eyes.

Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who meditate on His name. “They shall be Mine,” says the LORD of hosts, “On the day that I make them My jewels{treasured possesion}. And I will spare them As a man spares his own son who serves him.”

Dwell in the shelter of the Most High;
Rest in the shadow of the Almighty
Covered with My feathers, placed by My hand, safe in the cleft
Beneath My wings —Ps 91:1-4

O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely. –Song 2:14

Psalm 31:1-5
In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge;
… let me never be put to shame;
… deliver me in your righteousness.
Turn your ear to me,
… come quickly to my rescue;
… be my rock of refuge,
… a strong fortress to save me.
Since you are my rock and my fortress,
… for the sake of your name lead and guide me.
Free me from the trap that is set for me,
…  for you are my refuge.
Into your hands I commit my spirit;
… redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.

Psalm 61:1-8
Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer.
From the end of the earth I will cry to You,
… When my heart is overwhelmed;
… Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For You have been a shelter for me,
… A strong tower from the enemy.
I will abide in Your tabernacle forever;
… I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah
For You, O God, have heard my vows;
… You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name.
You will prolong the king’s life, His years as many generations.
He shall abide before God forever.
… Oh, prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him!
So I will sing praise to Your name forever,
… That I may daily perform my vows.
